I began the John Kender Diet in October of '98. At
first it took such courage and strength. I looked at the list of "bad
foods" and I thought, "What can I
eat?" I decided that it was better to look at everything I could
eat and go from there. And this is how my website came to be. I have put
together a web site that is dedicated to a positive JK Diet experience. One that
will hopefully provide you with encouragement and enthusiasm. This
reorganization of food's importance in life can easily be done. I found that if I
was equipped with the right tools anything was possible.
Foods That
Help and Foods that Don't
Now, these are 'the
bad' foods, the ones to stay away from. I began by keeping a list of these
on my person for the first three months until I got used to what's good and what's not so
good. I wanted to keep those urges at bay. Here's the list I kept with me:
 | Soy: Tofu, Soy oils and items made with Soy beans
should be avoided.

 | Soy Decoder: CLICK HERE
|
 | Lecithin
|
 | Corn, Corn meal and Popcorn - Corn Flour and Corn
Oil are ok.
|
 | Wheatgerm
|
 | Caffeine: Coffee, Chocolate and Tea
|
 | Legumes: Peas, Beans
of any kind, Chickpeas etc.
|

 | Nuts: Peanuts, Walnuts, Pecans etc. Avoid oils
that are made with peanuts and almonds etc. (Cashews are ok if not roasted in peanut oil.)
|
 | Shellfish: Oysters, Shrimp, Lobster, Mussels etc.
|
 | Omega Fish Oils: Tuna, Mackerel, Salmon.
(White Fish like Cod and Whiting are ok.)
|
 | Egg Yolks
|
 | Sugar: Sucrose, Honey, Syrups

Hint: I gave this list
of foods I could not eat to family and friends. Let me tell you, I was so surprised
how accommodating everyone was. People generally want to be supportive. They
will surprise you!
What are known to be good foods on this diet:
It is to be noted that these foods do not cancel out the ill
effects of the other foods (listed above) which cause some of us to really pull more than
usual.
 | Yogurt, Kefir |
 | Garlic, Oregano |
 | Onions |
 | Apples, Lemons, Mango, Kiwi: AHA's in general |
 | Dry Red Wine ( a good ingredient in red wine is: resveratrol.) |
 | Tannins: Decaf Tea, Green Tea |

John Kender's Diet Input:
"In case anyone wonders: although I do believe that what I have observed about
diet is effective for many people, I haven't found most people eager to embrace it, and it
is not my personal style to encourage people to try it.
I have noted it takes most people more than one year to decide to experiment seriously
with it, and I haven't found many ways to cut down that time. Since TTM is chronic, some
people
eventually give it a try anyway.
But I think the vast majority of pullers are caught in a difficult spot. They are
afflicted with a pleasurable but disfiguring disorder without many quick
or long-term remedies, and are being asked to acknowledge that there may, after all, be
something genetically different about them that would require a
permanent and limiting change
to their lifestyle.
I think the world needs its Amandas
and their enthusiasm. But after over four years of trying to get the word out, I am not
convinced that even if a dietary
approach were medical orthodoxy and the first line of attack by medical professionals,
that it would be any more popular than diets are with any other
disorder. Food is food, the battle is continual, and the long term
consequences of even a small
lapse are discouraging. I am reminded of it every time I myself cheat.
So: yes, try a dietary approach
if you feel the time is right for you. You will know when that is.
And if there is an allergy and yeasts involved, neither will go away, so it is
likely that eventually that time will come.
In the meantime, people
have my sympathy for sharing what, I believe, is an unfair roll of the DNA dice."
